Thirty-seven Tennessee hardwood businesses joined more than 400 companies nationwide in signing a letter urging the White House to include the U.S. hardwood sector in federal tariff relief programs. The coalition warns that ongoing export losses, rising costs, and mill closures are threatening rural jobs and communities across Tennessee.

The Tennessee Forestry Association (TFA), in partnership with the Tennessee Department of Agriculture Division of Forestry (TDF) and University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture (UTIA) Extension, invites landowners, civic organizations, school groups, and citizens across the state to participate in this year’s White Oak Acorn Collection, running October 15 through November 15, 2025.

Forestry Best Management Practices (BMPs) are essential in minimizing soil erosion during forest harvesting. These voluntary guidelines are designed to protect water quality and maintain the health of forest ecosystems. When properly applied, BMPs help ensure that logging and other forest operations do not contribute to sedimentation in nearby streams and rivers.
