Jerry Byrd: 2024 Tennessee Forestry Association Logger of the Year
The Tennessee Forestry Association is proud to recognize Jerry Byrd, owner of Jerry Lee Byrd Logging, LLC, as the 2024 Logger of the Year.
Operating out of Unicoi County, Jerry is a fifth-generation logger who carries forward a proud family tradition of working in Tennessee’s forests. A Tennessee Master Logger, Jerry is known for his strong work ethic, commitment to safety, and dedication to running clean, efficient operations on every job site.
Jerry leads a fully mechanized crew and manages a wide range of timber harvesting projects, from selective cuts to clearcuts. His attention to soil and water protection, along with his focus on proper road construction and post-harvest site restoration, reflect his deep respect for the land.
Beyond the woods, Jerry is active in his community, supporting youth sports, participating in Log-A-Load for Kids, and serving on the Forestry Advisory Committee for the Tennessee Farm Bureau. His leadership in both forestry and community service sets an outstanding example for future generations of loggers.
TFA is proud to celebrate Jerry’s achievements and highlight his dedication to sustainable forestry in Tennessee.
Congratulations, Jerry, and thank you for your outstanding work in our forests!
