Collaborating on Carbon Workshop
Collaborating on Carbon
A workshop to understand downstream impacts and the future of US forest carbon markets.
When: June 17-18, 2024 Where: Montgomery Bell State Park, Nashville, TN
Forest carbon market expansion presents a diverse set of social, economic, and ecological impacts. In this workshop, you are invited to share your perspectives on forests, industries, and communities. You will join with other experts, market-actors, and interests in identifying risks and collaborative solutions. This event is the culmination of a project entitled Exploring the Potential Effects of an Expanding Forest Carbon Market in the United States. Attendees will hear a summary of the project’s concept paper, survey, and mapping analysis; presentations from experts, and engage in small group discussions. Thought leaders representing a full range of perspectives and experiences on forest carbon markets are invited to participate in the workshop and contribute to the final results of the project.

TN Master Logger 4-Day Course Starts
The Tennessee Master Logger Program is designed to assist logging business owners and employees in their professional and education requirements focusing on water quality, safety, business management and sustainable forest management. To successfully complete the course and be recognized as a Tennessee Master Logger, participants must attend every class. The Tennessee Master Logger designation is for two years and can be renewed every two years by attending a one-day continuing education session.

Courses may include tree identification, measurements, compass and pacing, hardwood and pine silviculture, wildlife management, water quality protection, wildfire protection, insect and disease, best management practices, and geographic information systems/GPS.
On top of premiere professional instruction, students get to enjoy a multitude of outdoor activities, relaxation, and competition with 60 FFA students from across Tennessee. We hope to see you this Summer!

After you attend the 5-day Master Logger initial course, Tennessee Master Logger Graduates must attend a 1-day continuing education class every two years to keep their Master Logger Status at a cost of $85.00.
