The Temperate Forest Foundation is committed to educating the public about our sustainable forest resources and their effect on people and quality of life.  Provides information and workshops for teachers, plus resources and products. The "leaf-only" identification is a new feature on this U.P. Tree  Identification web site.  Many teachers across the U.P. have students assemble leaf collections.  Although using only leaves is not the best way to learn tree identification, an ID key using only leaves has been developed..

Land and People: finding a balance is an environmental study project that engages high school students in studying ecosystems resource issues. The project focuses on the interaction between people and the environment in three regions on the United States: Cape Cod, Los Angeles, and the Everglades.

US Long-Term Ecological Research Network (LTER)        http://www.lternet.edu/
LTER has a broad-scale, long-term effort to combine scientific research and science education.
