Best Management Practices

The Department of Agriculture, Division of Forestry, has published a set of rules defining forest "best management practices" (BMPs) as required by Public Chapter 680, Acts of the Tennessee General Assembly, 2000.

The act requires that such BMPs be identified as part of authorizing the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation the power to require that a logger "stop work" if the harvesting operation pollutes waters of the state because the logger failed or refused to use BMPs.
