On December 6, 2016 a Master Logger Continuing Education Class was conducted at Clark Lumber Company by Dr. Wayne Clatterbuck and Dr. Adam Taylor of the University of Tennessee. The Master Logger Program teaches logging methods that benefit both the industry and the forest.
The initial Master Logger Course is an intense 5 day program that addresses topics such as Logging Safety, First Aid, CPR, Forest Management and Best Management Practices (BMP) to be used during the harvesting of the timber.
After the initial course has been completed the Master Logger must every 2 years attend a recertification class to retain their status.
This year's class was sponsored by the TN Forestry Association, TN Division of Forestry and Clark Lumber Company. "We are proud of all the loggers in this area that have worked hard to improve in the practices taught in this program" stated Hugh Clark of Clark Lumber Company. "The Forestry Industry is a vital part of our economy here in Middle TN and Southern KY and about 95% of the logs that we process through our mills are harvested by Master Loggers."
