Current IssuesGreen Globes legislation passed Senate CommitteeSB3992 by Senator Lowe Finney (D) Jackson and co-sponsored by Senator Tim Burchett (R) Republican passed out of the State & Local Government Committee by vote of 9 – 0 on Tuesday, February 26. All Senators on the Committee also signed on as co-sponsors of the legislation. This legislation is supported by the Tennessee Forestry Association. The bill encourages the State Building Commission to promulgate rules and regs that require design, construction & certification of state buildings with at least a rating of two Green Globes or an equivalent rating under a comparable standard. HB404l, the House Companion bill sponsored by Rep. Gary and others will likely be heard next week in a sub-committee of the House State & Local Government Committee.
